While social events like our Rooftop Iftar are a great way to mix and meet your fellow Muslim Dems, the bulk of our work is the nitty-gritty door-to-door work of electoral and civic empowerment--the #MuslimVote movement.
This September, NYC's City Council District 23 will be holding a Democratic primary to fill the newly vacant council seat. And MDCNY's co-founder Ali Najmi is among the candidates running in the race!
This community, in Eastern Queens, is known as the city's most diverse council district and is the home of a large and vibrant Muslim community. If you're looking for a microcosm of the multicultural beauty that makes New York so great, CD23 is it.
With such a large population in the community, this a district where the #MuslimVote will be crucial! We need you, the club membership, to make a decision on which candidate to endorse in this race.
Join us in Queens on July 6, 2015 for the endorsement meeting. Iftar dinner will be provided. We will hear from the candidates and vote on an endorsement. Come make your voice heard!
