On behalf of New York City's Muslim community, we write to thank you for delivering on your promise to add Eid al Fitr and Eid al Adha to thecalendar of the nation’s largest public school system.
For the first time ever, hundreds of thousands of Muslim public school students will NOT have to choose between attending class and observing their faith on Thursday, September 24th.
New York City moves forward when we all move together. Your decision to make the two Eids official New York City holidays sends a powerful message of inclusion and respect for the City’s fastest growing faith community.
We appreciate the steps taken by your administration on this critical issue. As you continue to fight against the tale of two cities, we stand firmly by your side to advocate for more tolerance and inclusivity.
